BLUE FLAMINGO

"‘Ik grossier in dromen,’ dat antwoord ik soms als mensen mij vragen wat ik doe voor de kost. Natuurlijk kan ik vertellen dat ik mij onder andere bezig houd met het verzamelen van 78-toeren platen en dat ik ze voor publiek draai als DJ onder de naam Blue Flamingo. Dat is echter slechts de vorm."
Blue Flamingo is Ziya Ertekin. Op 78 r.p.m. heeft hij drie muzikale reizen samengesteld. Blues, R&B, hot jazz, rumba negra en exotica ontmoeten elkaar.
"De 78-toerenplaat is voor mij de mooiste vorm waarin dat wat onzichtbaar is visueel wordt en het niet tastbare, materieel. Gestold geluid; inktzwart. Het zijn kleine kunstwerkjes. Wellicht ben ik bevooroordeeld. In een wereld die steeds meer gericht is op gemak, gaat het bij het verzamelen van 78-toeren platen juist om de mateloze bereidheid om moeite te doen voor een bijzondere ervaring."

In 2010 komt er u een nieuwe ervaring ter ore: CONGO JAZZ. De eerste mix bevat Hot Jazz met Afro/Jungle Exotica en de tweede mix is opgebouwd uit Congolese 78 toerenplaten.

Blue Flamingo, ou en d’autres termes le DJ Ziya Ertekin, collectionne les 78 tours et leur offre une seconde jeunesse au travers de ses célèbres DJ sets (avec une seule platine !) et de brillantes compilations où le blues, le r&b, hot jazz, rumbo, etc. se rencontrent et se croisent. Ses superbes albums de mixes comme ‘Blue Flamingo 78 r.p.m.’ et le récent ‘Congo Jazz’ vous font faire un bond dans le temps et vous replongent dans les années 30, là où règnent le jazz, l’exotica et le mambo. Sans oublier, bien entendu, ces délicieux craquements vinyliques.

"The 78 rpm record is to me the most beautiful shape wherein that which is invisible is visualized, wherein that which is Intangible is materialized. It is a little piece of art. Perhaps I am
prejudiced. In a world increasingly focused on comfort, collecting 78 rpm records is an exercise in immeasurable preparedness to make an effort in exchange for a wonderful experience."

In 2010 Blue Flamingo brings a new experience to you: CONGO JAZZ. The first mix exists of Hot Jazz with Afro/Jungle Exotica and the second mix is built out Congolese 78 rpm records.
