MAHINA

Mahina Ngandu is een Brussels based artiest. Ze werd geboren in Brussel in een artistieke familie en begon al op jonge leeftijd te schrijven en te tekenen. In 2015 krijgt ze bij Mama’s Open Mic voor het eerst de kans haar zangtalent met een groot publiek te delen, waar ze meteen lovende commentaren op krijgt. Vanaf dan beslist ze om als zangeres haar stem te gebruiken en haar liefde voor kunst via verschillende kunstdisciplines te uiten. Zo ontstond dan ook het concept 'Chameleon'.

Dankzij haar sterke en veelzijdige persoonlijkheid, én als Afrikaanse vrouw, laat Mahina zich als zangeres uit op Afro pop, soul, RnB, Congolese melodieën en ritmes, reggae en meer. Ze maakt er haar artistieke uitdaging van om haar eigen stijl te vinden tussen die van ‘zwarte muziek’ uit verschillende tijden en plaatsen. Geïnspireerd door Amerikaanse vocalisten als de unieke Erykah Badu, Aaliyah, D’Angelo of India Arie, de Europese Amy Winehouse en Zap Mama, evenals de Congolese Mbilia Bel en Papa Wemba, bespeelt Mahina met haar fluwelen stem warme klanken van overal.

Mahina Ngandu is a Brussels-based artist. Born in Brussels to an artistic family, she started writing and drawing at an early age. In 2015, she got her first chance to share her singing talent with a large audience at Mama's Open Mic, to which she immediately received rave reviews. From then on, she decides to use her voice as a singer and express her love for art through different art disciplines. Thus, the concept of 'Chameleon' was born.

Thanks to her strong and versatile personality, as well as being an African woman, as a singer, Mahina sings to Afro pop, soul, RnB, Congolese melodies and rhythms, reggae and more. She makes it her artistic challenge to find her own style among those of 'black music' from different times and places. Inspired by American vocalists like the unique Erykah Badu, Aaliyah, D'Angelo or India Arie, European Amy Winehouse and Zap Mama, as well as Congolese Mbilia Bel and Papa Wemba, Mahina plays warm sounds from everywhere with her velvety voice.
