BUSCEMI LIVE BAND

Since 1996, Belgian musician, producer, remixer and DJ Dirk Swartenbroekx is making funky records under the name of Buscemi, one of his favorite actors. His style is deep. The music is difficult to categorise but easy to listen to. Buscemi’s eclectic dance music stylings embrace a mix of lounge, jazz, house, bossa, electro, afro and latino grooves. Dirk released nine solo long players for Lowlands, EMI, Virgin and Les Disques Du Crepuscule as well as djmix-albums for Blue Note and Ministry of Sound, film and television soundtracks. There were also three albums in collaboration with the ensemble of Italian composer Michel Bisceglia. And Buscemi even made a record with famous Italian crooner Rocco Granata, worldwide known for his track “Marina”. Remix clients have included Melody Gardot, Isabelle Antena, Calexico, Hooverphonic, Madredeus, Michael Franti and Nicola Conte.

Buscemi’s groove is worldwide acknowledged. You can find his songs on international compilations edited by iconic musical institutes as Defected, Buddha Bar and Cafe Del Mar. Buscemi is still much in demand as party- and lounge-dj, but can also be booked with a complete live-band, BUSCEMI LIVE BAND. Gigs took place in more than 40 countries. Main dates were shows at Burning Man Nevada, Tomorrowland, Rock Werchter, I Love Techno, Montreux Jazz festival, Oppikoppi, Lowlands, Toronto Jazz Festival, Jazz Middelheim and many more…

Dirk Swartenbroekx at the decks, samples and keys, combined with professional musicians Sam Versweyveld, Yves Fernandez and Jo Hermans (trumpet), Jeroen Capens and Marc De Maeseneer (sax), Ronald Bindi and Hans Forceville (percussion), Keith Canvas (piano, keys and vocals), Wilma Jane (vocals) and Jana De Valck (vocals). The band can on demand be expanded with bass, guitar and drums. Welcome to the party!
