Op vrijdag 27 maart 2020 verscheen het tweede album van de Rotterdamse band Lewsberg, getiteld In This House. De plaat zal net als het titelloze eerste album uit 2018 door de band zelf worden uitgebracht.

Het nieuwe album komt op een andere manier binnen dan het debuut. Harder qua geluid, maar menselijker van toon. Is de titel van openingsnummer Left Turn een waarschuwing aan de luisteraar, dat er niet voor de meest voor de hand liggende paden gekozen gaat worden?

Onverwachte afslagen genoeg op In This House. De plagerig krachteloze gitaarnoten halverwege het uptempo From Never to Once. De instrumentale nummers Trained Eye en Interlude. Ontroerende Lewsberg-ballade The Door. En dan zijn er nog de twee afsluiters van de plaat, die een even eigenaardige als vanzelfsprekende samenwerking met elkaar aangaan: het trage, druggy, fatalistische Jacob’s Ladder en het wilde, associatieve Standard Procedures.

Deze regels uit het slotnummer zouden het motto van de band kunnen zijn. Niet als peptalk of uiting van winnaarsmentaliteit, maar als een eerbetoon aan de schoonheid en troost in het eindeloos ploeteren.
