MOONEYE

Met het sterke en bejubelde debuutalbum Big Enough, een pak succesvolle singles en een ijzersterke livereputatie behoort Mooneye al enkele jaren tot het kruim van de Belgische indie. Een status die met tweede album ‘Come With Me And Hide’ alleen maar zal groeien.

Het begon voor Mooneye allemaal in 2019, toen de band rond Michiel Libberecht zegevierde in ‘De Nieuwe Lichting’ van Studio Brussel. Er volgde een ep en met Thinking About Leaving ook een eerste bescheiden hit. In 2021 verscheen debuutalbum Big Enough, met succesvolle singles als Bright Lights (samen met Meskerem Mees), Fix The Heater en Are You Lonely Too. De daaropvolgende tour bracht de band door België en Nederland en tot in Duitsland, waar hun faam sinds een felgesmaakte passage op het bekende Reeperbahn-festival zienderogen groeit.

Eind 2022 ging de band de studio in voor het langverwachte tweede album, en daarvoor wou Libberecht terug naar de basis van de band: intimiteit vanuit een akoestische basis. Inspiratie haalde hij uit zijn voorliefde voor de American way of songwriting, met elementen uit folk en country, en invloeden als Kevin Morby, akoestische Beck en soundtracks van Morricone en Luppi. Het resultaat is een openhartig album van een band die hechter klinkt dan ooit.

Eerste single Lover To Stranger deed het uitstekend op radio en in de alternatieve hitlijsten, en na een solotour door Duitsland (met Ruben Block van Triggerfinger), richt Libberecht het vizier op 2024. Na de release van Come With Me And Hide (9 februari) volgt er een tour door België (o.a. Wilde Westen, De Roma, Het Depot, De Casino, ...), Nederland (Paradiso, Muziekgieterij, ...) en Duitsland. En dat is tenslotte waar het om draait voor Mooneye, op het podium staan en hun muziek delen met fans en publiek.

Avec un premier album Big Enough fort et acclamé, une série de singles à succès et une solide réputation sur scène, Mooneye fait partie de la crème de la crème de l'indie belge depuis plusieurs années. Un statut qui ne fera que croître avec le deuxième album 'Come With Me And Hide'.

Tout a commencé pour Mooneye en 2019, lorsque le groupe autour de Michiel Libberecht a triomphé dans 'De Nieuwe Lichting' de Studio Brussel. Un EP a suivi et, avec Thinking About Leaving, un premier succès modeste. Le premier album Big Enough est sorti en 2021, avec des singles à succès comme Bright Lights (avec Meskerem Mees), Fix The Heater et Are You Lonely Too. La tournée qui s'ensuit emmène le groupe à travers la Belgique et les Pays-Bas et jusqu'en Allemagne, où sa notoriété s'accroît sensiblement depuis un passage très attendu au célèbre festival Reeperbahn.

Fin 2022, le groupe entre en studio pour le très attendu deuxième album, pour lequel Libberecht a voulu revenir aux racines du groupe : l'intimité à partir d'une base acoustique. Il s'est inspiré de son goût pour l'écriture américaine, avec des éléments de folk et de country, et des influences telles que Kevin Morby, Beck acoustique et les bandes originales de Morricone et Luppi. Le résultat est un album sincère d'un groupe qui semble plus proche que jamais.

Le premier single, Lover To Stranger, a été très bien accueilli à la radio et dans les charts alternatifs. Après une tournée en solo en Allemagne (avec Ruben Block de Triggerfinger), Libberecht se tourne vers 2024. La sortie de Come With Me And Hide (9 février) sera suivie d'une tournée en Belgique (Wilde Westen, De Roma, Het Depot, De Casino, etc.), aux Pays-Bas (Paradiso, Muziekgieterij, etc.) et en Allemagne. With an excellent and acclaimed debut album, a string of successful singles and a steaming live reputation, Mooneye have been in the forefront of Belgium’s indie scene for quite some years now.

A status that will only continue to grow with sophomore album ‘Come With Me And Hide’. It all started for Mooneye in 2019 with victory in a music talent show for national alternative radio station Studio Brussels. They released an ep soon after and scored a first modest hit with Thinking About Leaving. Their debut album Big Enough followed in 2021, containing hit singles like Bright Lights (ft. Meskerem Mees), Fix The Heater and Are You Lonely Too. They toured through Belgium and the Netherlands and as far as Germany, where their fame is growing considerably since they played a very well received gig at the famous Reeperbahn festival.

By the end of 2022 the band went into the studio for the long-awaited second album, and frontman Michiel Libberecht wanted to return to the band’s very essence: intimacy built up from an acoustic foundation. He drew inspiration from his love for the American way of songwriting, incorporating elements of folk and country, and influences ranging from Kevin Morby and acoustic Beck to Morricone and Luppi soundtracks. The result is a stunning, coherent and heartfelt album with Mooneye sounding more full-grown than ever.

First single Lover To Stranger did very well on radio, streaming services and in alternative charts. After a solo tour supporting Ruben Block (Triggerfinger) in Germany, Libberecht will be looking towards 2024, the release of Come With Me And Hide (9 februari) and a new tour taking the band to wonderful venues in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. And that, after all, is whatMooneye is all about, being on stage and sharing their music with fans and audiences all around.
