IDIOTS bestaan 10 jaar. Een tinnen jubileum. Tin years of Idiocy.

Opgericht in 2012 tussen varkensmest en dieseldampen zijn de heren van Idiots ‘still standing’.

Een virus gooide veel roet in het eten, maar dat heeft hen niet tegengehouden. Een beknopt re-laas van woelige tijden.

In maart 2020, net voor de coronacrisis, werd de EP ‘Chapter 1 - Spring’ gereleased en op alle bekende streamingdiensten losgelaten. Twee clips volgden elkaar snel op: ‘Lipstick Glamgirl’ en Lonewolf’. Toen kwam de lockdown, maar de zaadjes voor ‘Chapter 2 - Fall’ waren geplant en IDIOTS namen eind augustus, tussen twee lockdowns door, de nieuwe EP op. Het verblijf bij de fantastische Hannes Van Rossom en zijn Dunk Studio in Zottegem mag legendarisch genoemd worden. Als een stel net uitgelaten jonge honden gingen de mannen dagen aan een stuk door en het resultaat, de EP ‘Chapter 2 - Fall’, werd eind 2020 eveneens op alle digitale kanalen gelost.

Een goeie taart is pas af als de kers erop staat. Wel, dankzij een geïmproviseerde crowdfunding die volledig aan de verwachtingen voldeed, brachten IDIOTS in het voorjaar van 2021 beide EP’s uit op een volwaardig vinylalbum.

Nu we in code geel zitten, kunnen IDIOTS - die al geruime tijd nerveus in de startblokken staan - hun derde full album aan een levend publiek voorstellen tijdens hun ‘Never Ending Farewell Tour’. Van A tot Z. Van Antwerpen tot Zwevegem. Met 10 kaarsjes op de taart, en een flinke scheut brui-ne rum. Zonder ijs.

Founded in 2012 amidst the pig manure and fumes of diesel, the gents of IDIOTS are still standing.

A virus may have thrown a spanner in the works, but that didn’t stop them. A brief chronicle of turbulent times.

In March 2020, just before covid arrived, the EP ‘Chapter 1 - Spring’ was released and distributed through all the usual streaming services. Two video’s quickly followed: ‘Lipstick Glamgirl’ and ‘Lonewolf’. By the time the country went on lockdown, the seeds for ‘Chapter 2 - Fall’ had already been planted and in late August, in between two lockdowns, IDIOTS went into the studio to record the new EP. The time spent with the wonderful Hannes Van Rossom in his Dunk Studio in Zottegem was nothing less than legendary. Like a pack of wild dogs the guys kept on going for days on end. The resulting ‘Chapter 2 - Fall’ was dropped on all digital channels towards the end of 2020.

A cake always tastes better with icing on top. Well then, thanks to an impromptu yet highly successful crowdfunding both EP’s were released as a full vinyl album in the spring of 2021.

Now that most covid measures have been dropped, IDIOTS - dying to get going - can finally present their third full album to a live audience during their ‘Never Ending Farewell Tour’. From A to Z. From Antwerp to Zwevegem. With 10 candles on the cake, and a generous shot of dark rum. Neat.
