Arid plays ‘Little Things of Venom’ (1999)

‘Little Things of Venom’ is nog steeds het fel bejubelde debuut van Arid dat in 2019 exact 20 kaarsjes uitblaast. Zoals tradities dat eisen: dit moet gevierd worden! En hoe! Speciaal voor deze gelegenheid komt Arid éénmalig opnieuw samen om in het kader van◄◄ REWIND hun allereerste boreling integraal te spelen.

Arid haalde in ’96 de finale van Humo’s Rock Rally, en zoals het elke goede groep betaamt, liet de band zijn songs en groepsgeluid rijpen. Dat resulteerde in het meteen succesvolle debuut ‘Little Things of Venom’ dat probleemloos goud werd. Uit het album werden niet minder dan vijf (!) singles getrokken: ‘Too Late Tonight’, ‘Believer’, ‘Life’ ‘All Will Wait’ en‘Me and My Melody’. In het jaar daarop oogstte de band alles wat er te oogsten viel. Ze speelden twee maal op Rock Werchter (’99 en ’00), verkochten twee maal de grote zaal van AB uit (’00), werden op sleeptouw genomen door Suede (’99) en Counting Crows (’00) en het album werd zelfs in de Verenigde Staten uitgebracht door Columbia onder de titel ‘At The Close of Every Day’.

Little Things of Venom, le premier opus d’Arid acclamé par la critique, soufflera ses 20 bougies en 2019. Un évènement pareil, ça se fête ! Et pas n’importe comment : Arid se réunira exceptionnellement pour jouer l’intégralité de son premier-né dans le cadre du cycle◄◄ REWIND.

Finaliste du Humo’s Rock Rally en 1996, Arid a fait mûrir son sound et ses titres pour sortir, trois ans plus tard, un premier opus en or : Little Things of Venom. L’album a donné pas moins de cinq (!) singles : « Too Late Tonight », « Believer », « Life », « All Will Wait » et « Me and My Melody ». L’année suivante, le groupe a glané toutes les récompenses qu’il y avait à ramasser. Il s’est aussi produit deux fois à Rock Werchter (’99 et ’00), a fait deux fois salle comble à l’AB (’00) et a tourné avec Suede (’99) et les Counting Crows (’00). Enfin, l’album est même sorti aux États-Unis chez Columbia sous le titre At The Close of Every Day.

Attention : il s’agit bien d’une réunion unique et exceptionnelle ! Après ce concert, Jasper Steverlinck planchera sur de nouvelles compositions qui verront le jour en 2020.

Especially for the occasion, just this once, Arid will reunite to entirely play their very first issue as a part of ◄◄ REWIND.

Arid made it into the final of Humo’s Rock Rally ’96 and, as befits every good band, allowed its songs and sound to ripen. That resulted in the instantly successful debut ‘Little Things of Venom’, which effortlessly went gold. There were no less than five (!) singles from the album: ‘Too Late Tonight’, ‘Believer’, ‘Life’ ‘All Will Wait’ and ‘Me and My Melody’. In the following years, the band harvested every possible achievement. They played at Rock Werchter (’99 and ’00), sold out the Main Hall of AB twice (’00), were taken on tour by Suede (’99) and Counting Crows (’00), and the album was even released in the United States (by Columbia under the title ‘At The Close of Every Day’).
